Steelers vs. Broncos, Week 2: Final Score and Highlights
The Pittsburgh Steelers and Denver Broncos went head-to-head in Week 2 of the 2024 NFL regular season in Colorado, and there were storylines galore in this game. It was Russell Wilson’s return to the Mile High city, but he was inactive for the game, still nursing his calf injury he suffered at the start of training camp.
Will the Steelers start 2-0, or will the Broncos find an equilibrium and finish 1-1?
And those aren’t all the headlines heading into the game, but here we let you know how the game went down by quarter, sharing highlights alone the way.
Let’s get to the breakdown:
1st Quarter
The Broncos received the opening kickoff, but both teams did nothing but have 3-and-outs until the Steelers and Justin Fields got the football for the second time. On this drive it was a great mix of run and pass which moved the ball into scoring range. On 3rd and goal from the 5-yard line, Fields hit Darnell Washington in the corner of the end-zone for the Steelers first touchdown of the game, and the season.

Score at the end of the 1st Quarter: Steelers 7, Broncos 0
2nd Quarter
The 2nd quarter saw neither team move the ball into scoring range until the Broncos finally reached Pittsburgh territory for the first time. However, the drive stalled quickly when T.J. Watt did T.J. Watt things by sacking Bo Nix and forcing a punt.

It looked like the Broncos would punt, but after a timeout Sean Payton decided to go for it on 4th and 7. Bo Nix’s pass was nearly intercepted, turning the ball over on downs.
Fields and the offense moved down the field in just over two minutes and were able to add a Chris Boswell field goal before halftime.
Score at halftime: Steelers 10, Broncos 0
3rd Quarter
The Steelers started with the football to start the second half, but they had to settle for a field-flipping drive rather than points. Denver again failed to do anything with the football, and neither did the Steelers with their second drive. However, it was the Broncos offense which aired it out on a trick play which set up a first-and-goal situation.

The next pass Bow Nix threw was to the wrong team, with Cory Trice intercepting the pass.

The interception turned into a Chris Boswell 53-yard field goal to make the score 13-0.
That score would hold heading into the 4th quarter.

4th Quarter
The Broncos finally got on the board in the 4th quarter when Bo Nix and the offense got the ball into field goal range and Wil Lutz hit a 35-yard field goal with 10:42 left in regulation making the score 13-3.
It wasn’t until inside the two-minute warning when the Broncos added another Lutz field goal to make the score 13-6 with 1:56 left in regulation. The Broncos would not go for the onside kick, electing to kick it deep. All Pittsburgh did was kill clock on the next drive, giving it back to the Broncos with 18 seconds left in regulation.
With no timeouts left, the Steelers held on to win their second game of the season.
FINAL SCORE: Steelers 13, Broncos 6
