Steelers Training Camp Practice Tracker: Tracking post-practice interviews from Day 6
The Pittsburgh Steelers are back, and that means it’s time to get you, the loyal fan base, up to speed on what is happening at training camp practice!
It happened again. The first tracker article from practice was getting bogged down due to the number of posts with the Steelers in pads for the first time. Rather than skimp on the information on things such as “backs on backers”, all the post-practice information will be put here in order to give a better viewing experience.
For the update of all the information as practice took place, check out the first Practice Tracker HERE.
Note: Newer tweets will be added at the bottom to give a better timeline for when viewing at a later date.
HERE WE GO STEELERS!

In addition to Perales, Mike Tomlin said that OLB Kyron Johnson didn’t finish practice while dealing with hamstring tightness. https://t.co/W3RtovwONg

My thoughts on Day 6 of #Steelers training camp. QB Russell Wilson continues to work his way back, a fight breaks out and who were the stars of the day? 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 pic.twitter.com/mpNCkWK4EI

#Steelers LB Elandon Roberts on his hit that led to today’s fight in practice.
“It was just a little tap, but the offense did what they supposed to do. You’re always supposed to protect your quarterback. … Imma stay away from the quarterback.” pic.twitter.com/rtTN0AJdDZ

#Steelers LB Elandon Roberts on how difficult QB Justin Fields is to cover outside the pocket.
“Big time. … Outside the pocket, this guy’s a problem. Inside the pocket, he’s a problem. … He’s the type of guy that’s always going to keep you on your toes.” pic.twitter.com/0MzB6Ux5eJ

#Steelers LB Elandon Roberts on how Justin Fields is helping the defense prepare for opposing QBs.
“It helps us a lot. You’ve got Lamar (Jackson), Deshaun (Watson) can still run. … We playing Jalen Hurts this year. We got Dak Prescott. … It gets us prepare for that element.” pic.twitter.com/mqPxG3a0dv
— Aaron Becker (@Aaron_M_Becker) July 31, 2024
#Steelers LB T.J. Watt on today’s fight.
“It’s good, especially when you have so many new players. You’re trying to figure out what everybody’s all about and to be able to see guys wanting to run to the fight and not run away from it is awesome to see.” pic.twitter.com/9vbuIj30ZD
— Aaron Becker (@Aaron_M_Becker) July 31, 2024
#Steelers LB T.J. Watt on first-round OT Troy Fautanu.
“I think he’s done a great job. … It’s always fun when you get a new tackle to go against because it’s not necessarily the same technique that you’re used to seeing day in and day out.” pic.twitter.com/ubGkyqIEtB
— Aaron Becker (@Aaron_M_Becker) July 31, 2024
#Steelers LB T.J. Watt on what he’s seen from the offense thus far.
“Decisive, getting the ball out quickly and they’re able to control the line of scrimmage in the run game, which is something that we need to take more pride in as a defense.” pic.twitter.com/zsXHCXQAAC
— Aaron Becker (@Aaron_M_Becker) July 31, 2024
#Steelers guard Nate Herbig on the offense’s side of today’s fight in practice.
“Nobody’s gonna hit our quarterback, cheap shot, and get away with it. It’s a big emphasis for us, a big emphasis for our unit. It’s nothing personal, we just protect our quarterback.” pic.twitter.com/a9vZ02rk8k
— Aaron Becker (@Aaron_M_Becker) July 31, 2024
#Steelers DC Teryl Austin on why today’s fight is a teaching moment.
“It got a little feisty but that’s camp. We want to be aggressive; we want to be physical, but you have to keep your cool. If you do that stuff in a game, you’re out of the game and it hurts our team.” pic.twitter.com/Mgls2j9xBa
— Aaron Becker (@Aaron_M_Becker) July 31, 2024
Isaiahh Loudermilk on Mason McCormick and Troy Fautanu going to protect Justin Fields today:
"This group of young O-linemen are definitely hungry. And, you know, I don’t think they’re scared to go out there and, you know, be aggressive and show who they are.”

#Steelers DC Teryl Austin on the mentality LBs Patrick Queen and Elandon Roberts bring.
“A lot of defense is about temperament in how you play and what you’re willing to dish out. … I think our guys are tough, they’re edgy. I like that and I would never discourage that at all.” pic.twitter.com/3HHFR8uhR9
— Aaron Becker (@Aaron_M_Becker) July 31, 2024
#Steelers DC Teryl Austin on the challenge QB Justin Fields brings to the defense.
“When he breaks the pocket, he is dangerous, and he can turn a bad play into a really good play really fast. … It’s really good work for us because we’re gonna run across quarterbacks like that.” pic.twitter.com/ko5AhG3rdL
