Steelers tackle Dylan Cook starts 21-day window as he returns from IR
The Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line has been decimated by injury this season. The position doesn’t matter, as the team enters their 7th regular season game Sunday night, they will have their 5th different offensive line configuration when the New York Jets come to town.
In case you forgot, here are some of the injuries that have been sustained along the offensive front:
- OT Troy Fautanu – Knee injury, on IR
- Isaac Seumalo – Pectoral injury, missed first four games of the regular season
- James Daniels – Ruptured Achilles tendon, on IR
- Zach Frazier – Injured ankle, considered week-to-week
When will help be on the way? For players like Frazier, they are expected to return after the team’s bye week. Until then, the Steelers have officially started the 21-day window to return off Injured Reserve (IR) for offensive tackle Dylan Cook.

Cook was placed on the Reserve/Injured (Designated for Return) List before the start of the regular season, and he spent the 2023 season on the 53-man roster, but didn’t see any game action. Cook’s potential return could provide valuable depth at the offensive tackle spot, but doesn’t help with the immediate issues in the interior of the offensive line.
As a reminder, if Cook doesn’t return to the 53-man roster within the 21-day window, he would be placed on season-ending IR.
