Steelers sign 2nd Round pick Zach Frazier to rookie contract

The Pittsburgh Steelers have concluded their Phase 3 of OTAs, and that means it was the first time they’ve had the full seven player draft group in Pittsburgh at the same time as they prepare for Mandatory Minicamp. That also meant there was a good chance the Steelers start wrapping up their draft picks and getting them under contract.

The Steelers signed another draft pick when they came to terms on an entry level contract with linebacker 2nd Round pick Zach Frazier.

For salary cap hits, they are as follows:

Zach Frazier: $1,371,675

There was once a time when the NFL had to struggle to get their rookies under contract. Players would hold out for the most money possible, but since the league has shifted, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), to slotted draft contracts the signing of rookies has become nothing more than a formality.

Logan Lee and Mason McCormick were signed Friday of rookie minicamp, and now Roman Wilson, Ryan Watts, and Payton Wilson are under contract for the next four seasons, and will hopefully become mainstays with the black-and-gold for years to come. With Lee, McCormick, Watts, Roman Wilson and Payton Wilson being the first rookies to sign, the last two of Fautanu and Frazier round out the rookie class as all under contract.
