Steelers reportedly signing tight end MyCole Pruitt

Tell your friends…Arthur Smith is getting the band back together.

The new Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator continues to make additions to the team who have ties with him during his time with both the Tennessee Titans and the Atlanta Falcons.

First, it was Van Jefferson, then Cordarrelle Patterson. Now, it is being reported the Steelers are signing tight end MyCole Pruitt to their roster. This per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN:

Pruitt was a 5th Round draft pick by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2015 NFL Draft, but was released by the team in 2016 and placed on the practice squad. Pruitt was poached off the practice squad by the Chicago Bears, but bounced off the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans practice squads before his first stint with the Tennessee Titans.

It was there in 2018 where Pruitt stayed until he signed with the San Francisco 49ers in 2021. His stay in San Francisco was short-lived, and Pruitt found his way back to the Titans in 2021. In 2022 he signed with the Atlanta Falcons and bounced to and from the practice squad until being released.

In his career, Pruitt has played in 108 games, with 71 catches for 748 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Pruitt joining the team certainly gives the Steelers options, but he certainly won’t be guaranteed a roster spot with the likes of Pat Freiermuth, Darnell Washington and Connor Heyward already on the roster. Nonetheless, the familiarity with Smith and his offense has been clear the entire offseason, with that trend continuing.
