Steelers reportedly preparing to interview Kliff Kingsbury for their OC position

The Pittsburgh Steelers are in need of an offensive coordinator, everyone knew that, but what wasn’t known was who would be on the list of interviews for the vacancy. Monday it was reported the Steelers were interviewing Zac Robinson of the Los Angeles Rams. Robinson is clearly of the Sean McVay tree, and has some connections to the Steelers through quarterback Mason Rudolph.

Tuesday another report surfaced, this from Peter King via Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh. According to King, the Steelers will be discussing the opening with former Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury as well.

Kingsbury made a name for himself at Texas Tech, coaching the likes of Baker Mayfield and Patrick Mahomes, before not being retained after the 2018 season. He then took the offensive coordinator job at USC in the winter of 2018, only the start being recruited in the professional ranks by several teams.

He was eventually hired by the Arizona Cardinals in 2019 and stayed with the organization until 2022 when he was let go after a 4-13 season. He then returned to USC as the offensive coordinator in 2023, and finds himself now gaining interest from NFL teams for his services.

Would he fit with the Steelers? Would he be a coach who can get the best out of the current roster? Many will be skeptical with his “air raid” style offense not being suitable for all offenses and quarterbacks. This is just a report, and potentially one of many interviews the Steelers will hold for their vacancy at offensive coordinator.
