Steelers release roster for this weekend’s rookie minicamp
The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced the names of 43 players who are partaking in this weekend‘s rookie minicamp at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex in Pittsburgh. The roster includes 10 first year players, 12 rookies who are currently under contract with the Steelers, and 21 tryout players.

On the roster for the weekend are the expected seven 2024 draft picks by the Steelers as well as the five players they signed is undrafted rookie free agents. Additionally, players who had signed reserve/futures contracts with the Steelers at the conclusion of the 2023 season and did not appear in the 53-man roster are also able to attend.
When it comes to the tryout players, there is a wide variety of players from different backgrounds. There are two players who have NFL experience other than with the Steelers who are at rookie minicamp on a tryout basis: cornerback Anthony Averett, formally of the Las Vegas, Raiders, and running back Jonathan Ward, formally of the Tennessee Titans.
Other notable players are kicker Mark Jackson, who recently won the Steelers football kicking clinic in Ireland. Additionally, former University of Pittsburgh quarterback, Phil Jurkovec is in rookie camp on a tryout basis as a tight end.
