Steelers promote Aaron Shampklin to active roster, Jeremiah Moon returns to practice

With the Pittsburgh Steelers battling the injury bug on many fronts, the team has continued to adjust their roster accordingly, both on the 53-man roster and the practice squad. Wednesday it was announced the Steelers have promoted RB Aaron Shampklin to the 53-man roster, coming off the practice squad.

This per the Steelers official Twitter/X account:

The promotion of Shampklin opened up a spot on the team’s practice squad, which was filled by linebacker Jacoby Windmon. For more information on both Shampklin and Windmon, here is some information from the Steelers official website:

Shampklin originally joined the Steelers when he signed a Reserve/Future contract at the end of the 2023 season. Prior to that he spent time with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023, and also spent part of the 2022 season with the Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys.

Windmon was originally signed by the Steelers as an undrafted free agent following the 2024 NFL Draft.

Windmon played 41 career games, playing two seasons at Michigan State after transferring from UNLV. He played in 11 games, recording 64 tackles, 23 of them solo stops. He had 12.5 tackles for a loss and six and a half sacks. He also had six forced fumbles, three passes defenses and an interception.

On top of those moves, the team also announced Jeremiah Moon has officially returned to practice but remains on the Reserve/Injured List. Moon has several weeks to return to the lineup, if he doesn’t return eventually he would land on season-ending IR.
