Steelers officially release punter Braden Mann

As is the case with ,any teams in the NFL, the Pittsburgh Steelers first version of the 2023 53-man roster is no more in less than 24 hours. On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced they have officially released punter Braden Mann.

Claimed off waivers earlier this offseason, Mann was a 2020 sixth-round draft pick of the New York Jets. Much like Pressley Harvin III, Mann was selected in the NFL draft a year after winning the Ray Guy Award, which is given to the best college punter.

During the preseason, both Mann and Harvin competed for the Steelers punting job with both players performing adequately. It was a surprise to many Steelers fans that Pittsburgh kept two punters on their original 53-man roster as some believed there must have been a potential trade of one player in the works.

The release of Maan from the roster does not come with an official announcement of another signing, leaving the Steelers with 52 players. But as was reported earlier, the Steelers are expected to sign cornerback Desmond King.

Stay tuned to Steel Curtain Network’s continued coverage of the Pittsburgh Steelers as they continue to shape their 53-man roster and sign their 16-player practice squad.
