Steelers name a new play-by-play announcer

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been searching for a new play-by-play announcer since the retirement of Bill Hillgrove at season’s end in 2023. Plenty speculated who they would choose, and the team has finally made their decision.

The new voice of the Steelers will be Rob King, a familiar voice for fans. Rob has done work for the Steelers.com website, and has been a voice for all Pittsburgh sports for a long time, covering the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins at one time.

When it came to options, the Steelers like to keep as much in-house as possible, and it makes sense for King to take the elevated position for the organization.

It will likely take time for both fans and King to get acclimated to one another, especially after hearing the voice of Hillgrove for so long. Nonetheless, the new booth of King, Craig Wolfley and Max Starks will be able to blaze their own trail starting in 2024.
