Steelers injuries continue to pile up after second straight loss

The Pittsburgh Steelers have lost back-to-back games, both to two win teams, and their record has gone to 7-6 on the season. Following the Thursday Night Football loss to the New England Patriots, it was worth noting some of the injuries which were sustained during the game.

After the game, Mike Tomlin met with media and spoke about some of the players who were banged up during the contest. Tomlin spoke about several players who were banged up during the game, most notably Alex Highsmith.

Highsmith left the game with a neck injury, and was ruled out. Tomlin did say it was a neck injury, but didn’t get into specifics of the injury. All Tomlin said was it was a neck injury “of some description”. Highsmith will be evaluated over the extended break and Tomlin will have an update for the media/fans when he meets with the media next week.

Other injuries which occurred, but weren’t deemed major, were to T.J. Watt and Keeanu Benton. Watt took a foot to the facemask on the first play from scrimmage, and later in the game was hit in the facemask a second time. Watt was evaluated and able to return to the game.

As for Benton, he was taken to the ground awkwardly when defending a screen pass, but was also able to return. All other injuries were labeled as the “bumps and bruises” associated with the game of football, as Tomlin often says.
