Steelers have a surprising clean bill of health as they get ready for the Jaguars

The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 8, and this is coming after the team came from behind to beat the Los Angeles Rams in Week 7 on the road. This upcoming game will be in the friendly confines of Acrisure Stadium, but as Mike Tomlin fielded questions from media Tuesday, there were plenty of questions surrounding the Steelers heading into the upcoming game.

One of the talking points, as it always is, are the injuries the Steelers are dealing with heading into the upcoming game. Prior to the question and answer section of the press conference, Tomlin only listed one player who might be limited this week in practice.

That was also the only player listed in Tomlin’s post-game press conference when talking about injuries. Inside linebacker Cole Holcomb.

Tomlin mentioned Holcomb’s ankle injury, and said it would “need attention” this week. In other words, don’t be shocked if Holcomb is limited in the early stages of the week. Tomlin would go on to talk about the overall quality of play of Holcomb will be the team’s guide as to his participation in the game Sunday.

Another player mentioned by Tomlin is running back Anthony McFarland Jr. McFarland, who was placed on Injured Reserve (IR) with a knee injury, will enter his second week of the 21-day window for him to return. Tomlin said they will “continue to look at him” as the team prepares for Jacksonville.

Later in the press conference Tomlin was asked about the decision to play Dan Moore Jr. at left tackle. This after he returned from a knee sprain. Tomlin said Moore was “really solid” and looked “really good” for the Steelers in Week 7. These comments, and Moore’s health will likely mean he remains the entrenched starter over Broderick Jones, barring further injury.

Lastly, Tomlin was asked for an update on Cam Heyward, who has been on IR with an injured groin, and Tomlin simply said there are  “no updates there”. Tomlin doesn’t have to say anything about players on IR, so it doesn’t mean there has been a setback suffered or anything like that.

Nonetheless, the Steelers’ injury situation is in a good place for this part of the season, and hopefully that translates to the team’s third straight win this Sunday.
