Steelers expected to sign wide receiver to 90-man offseason roster

The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for their preseason finale vs. the Atlanta Falcons on the road this Thursday, and with the team returning to practice Monday there is a chance for some roster moves. Reports are circulating the team is preparing to make at least one roster move Monday, likely before practice, and it is at the wide receiver position.

Reports state the team is signing Aron Cruickshank, this per NFL Insider Aaron Wilson:

For those who don’t know much about Cruickshank, he comes to the Steelers after five years at Rutgers where he caught 103 passes for 908 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed for 360 yards and three touchdowns, including 115 yards his final season.

The former Scarlet Knight was the team’s primary kick returner, totaling 2,564 yards and four touchdowns during his college career.

For those wondering where he would fit on the team’s depth chart, it might be on the fringe just trying to make a name for himself, or a spot on a practice squad. It should be noted Hakeem Butler didn’t dress for the game Saturday night, and if it is an injury which sidelined Butler, it could equate to the Steelers signing a wide receiver.
