Steelers expected to sign CB Cam Sutton to one-year, vet minimum deal
Throughout the offseason the Pittsburgh Steelers have addressed many of their issues on their roster, except for two: Wide Receiver and Cornerback. While the need for a WR2 still exists, it seems as though the team is going to be making a move at cornerback which could help bolster the position, and needed depth, heading into the 2024 regular season.
According to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers are expected to sign Cam Sutton, who was drafted by the Steelers out of the University of Tennessee in 2017, to a one-year, veteran minimum deal.

In case you forgot, in six seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers from 2017 through 2022, Sutton appeared in 84 regular season games with 39 starts. Of those starts, 31 came in his final two years with the Steelers. In all, Sutton had 8 interceptions, 38 passes defensed, and 5 forced fumbles in Pittsburgh. In his one season in Detroit, Sutton started all 17 games where he had one interception, six passes defensed, and one forced fumble.
When Sutton cashed in with the Lions in free agency, many thought the potential of a reunion was nothing more than a pipedream; however, Sutton’s issues off the field resulted in his release and availability on the open market. At this point, the NFL could still step in and suspend Sutton for some of the 2024 regular season due to those off-field transgressions, but nothing has been solidified as of yet.
This move being reported also hasn’t been made official, but if it were Sutton would fill a need at cornerback, especially playing the interior in sub packages, something he did extremely well when he was last wearing the black-and-gold with the Steelers.
