Steelers escape TNF with win, but not without injury

The Pittsburgh Steelers were able to beat the Tennessee Titans 20-16 on Thursday Night Football in Week 9, but not everything went according to plan for the home team. Not only were the Steelers highly penalized in prime time, but the team also suffered a big injury to a key player.

As anyone who watched the game saw, Cole Holcomb left the game on a cart with what Mike Tomlin called a “serious injury”. The Steelers head coach said he will update the injury the next time he speaks with the media, but it was quite obvious it was a lower leg injury to Holcomb. When Tomlin spoke about sending thoughts and prayers to Holcomb and his family, it certainly points to the severity of the injury.

The other injury was to defensive lineman Montravius Adams. Adams suffered an ankle, but Tomlin said after the game he didn’t know to what degree the injury would hamper the defensive lineman.

All other injuries were labeled as “bumps and bruises associated with play” and nothing a short break this weekend won’t help as the team now enters what most call a “mini bye week” where they got a must-needed win to advance their record to 5-3 heading into Week 10.

Be sure to stay tuned to SCN for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steelers as they prepare for the Green Bay Packers in Week 10 following the team’s mini-break.
