Steelers escape Cincinnati with win, and no major injuries
The Pittsburgh Steelers were able to go on the road in Cincinnati and get a much-needed win over a division rival. The Steelers beat the Bengals 16-10 in Week 12, and after a tough divisional game like this there are times when you have to worry about the health of the team leaving the contest.
After the game Mike Tomlin met with media and only had two names to list as players who are banged up following the victory.
After he dove for a pass in the second half, George Pickens was visibly shaken during the game. When the replay was shown, it looked as if he landed awkwardly on his shoulder. However, Tomlin said he only had the wind knocked out of him. Good news for the talented second year wide receiver.
The only other player listed by the Steelers head coach was Calvin Austin III who Tomlin said injured his ankle in the waning moments of the game. Obviously, Austin’s ankle will need to be evaluated before the team can state whether his availability will be hindered next week.
The Steelers now turn their attention to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 13 at home. But these Steelers are now 7-4 and have put appropriate pressure on the rest of the AFC North, as well as in the AFC Playoff Picture heading into next week’s game. Be sure to stay tuned to SCN for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steeles as they prepare for the rest of the regular season.
