Steelers could be getting some reinforcements in Week 12
The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off their mini-bye after their Thursday Night Football game in Week 12. Following the 24-19 loss to the Cleveland Browns on the road the Steelers are hopeful to get some pieces back as the team now turns their attention to the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 13.
While Mike Tomlin will address the media Tuesday, it is worthwhile to take a look at some players who could be available for the team this Sunday in Cincinnati, and also some who might be able to return in the coming days/weeks.
The biggest name on the Steelers injury list is none other than Alex Highsmith. When Highsmith left the Week 10 game vs. the Washington Commanders with an ankle injury, most assumed it would be a 2-3 game injury. He has missed the last two games, and you have to wonder if he might be ahead of schedule preparing for another huge AFC North contest.
Other than Highsmith, another name who could be inserted into the roster would be cornerback Cory Trice. Trice was placed on Injured Reserve (IR) with a hamstring injury and for the last two weeks has had his 21-day window opened. Trice was a full participant in every practice ahead of the Browns game, and barring a setback should be activated to the 53-man roster this week. If he isn’t activated and his 21-day window is closed, he would land on season-ending IR.
Speaking of 21-day windows to return, Montravius Adams (knee) is the latest player who is now an option to return from IR. This isn’t suggesting he is healed enough to return to practice, but more just that he has missed the league-mandated four games before the team would even have an option for him to return to practice.
Along those same lines, after Week 13 it will have been four games for rookie 3rd Round pick Roman Wilson, who was placed on IR with a hamstring injury. Wilson hasn’t played meaningful snaps this season, and isn’t a guarantee to have his window open the moment he is allowed to do so, per league rules.
Outside of those players, the Steelers are a relatively healthy team heading into Week 13, and they’ll need all hands on deck as they prepare for another trip to Ohio vs. the well-rested Bengals who are coming off their bye week. Be sure to stay tuned to SCN for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steelers as they prepare for Week 13 of the regular season.
