Steelers bringing back Montravius Adams on a two-year deal

The Pittsburgh Steelers are continuing to adjust their roster as the new league year continues to move onward after the official start on Wednesday at 4pm.

The Steelers have already done their diligence signing their own free agents, two in particular.

Wednesday the Steelers signed long snapper Christian Kuntz to a 3-year contract, and Pro Bowl special teamer Miles Killebrew to a 2-year deal.

You can add a third free agent to the list now after it is being reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN the team is signing back Montravius Adams to a two-year contract.

For those who don’t remember, Adams was a third round draft pick in the 2017 NFL Draft for the Green Bay Packers. After joining the Steelers during the 2021 season, Adams has played in 35 games in Pittsburgh had 21 starts. Adams has 50 tackles, three quarterback hits, a forced fumble, and three passes defensed in Pittsburgh. Last season Adams was hampered by an ankle injury which opened the door for rookie Keeanu Benton to see increased snaps in 2023.

The addition of Adams will help bolster the defensive line depth behind the likes of Keeanu Benton, Larry Ogunjobi and Cam Heyward. After losing Armon Watts to the New England Patriots, the signing of Adams is a good insurance policy. There is still work to be done at the position, and it will continue to be an area of need heading into the 2024 NFL Draft.
