Steelers big win in Week 8 was made sweeter with their clean bill of health
The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a huge prime time win over the New York Giants on Monday Night Football in Week 8, and while the win propels their record to 6-2 it might not be the biggest story. No, for the rabid Steelers fan base, the fact they escaped this game without any further injury was a very close second to the team’s win over Daniel Jones and company.
After the game head coach Mike Tomlin spoke about how there were no significant injuries in the win Monday night, other than those typical “bumps and bruises associated with football”.
During the game Ryan McCollum was seen getting work done on his right arm, but he never left the game. Left tackle Dan Moore Jr. left the game for a play, but was able to return to action.
Now the Steelers head into their bye week, and it comes at a tremendous time for the Steelers. With the extra week off the team is hoping to get a long list of players back to their lineup before Week 10 when they travel to play the Washington Commanders.
Here are some players who are possible to return following the Week 9 bye:
- Nick Herbig (hamstring)
- Zach Frazier (ankle)
- Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle)
- Justin Fields (hamstring)
There could also be players who are eligible to return off Injured Reserve (IR) following the bye. Those players would be:
- Cory Trice (eligible to have his 21-day window started after his hamstring injury)
- Tyler Matakevich (hamstring) and Dylan Cook (foot) are both in the 21-day window to return
Outside of those players returning from injury, the Steelers also have the opportunity to welcome Cameron Sutton back from his 8-game suspension. Sutton will likely be eased back into the lineup, but could provide quality depth in the secondary.
Now the Steelers take a week off for some much needed rest and relaxation before getting “back in the lab” next week to prepare for the Commanders in Week 10. Be sure to stay tuned to SCN for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steelers as they get a week off in Week 9.
