Steelers announce multiple roster moves at the cornerback position

Pittsburgh Steelers took advantage of their final off day of training camp on Monday to make several roster moves. The Steelers announced they have signed cornerback Lavert Hill, waived cornerback Isaiah Dunn, and waived/injured cornerback Duke Dawson.

Making the All-XFL team in 2023, Lavert Hill started his NFL career after going undrafted in 2020 out of Michigan. Signed initially with the Kansas City Chiefs, Hill landed on the practice squad until November where he then signed with the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad the next month. Hill also spent time on the practice squads of the Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers, and was on the reserve/injured list of the Cleveland Browns in 2022.

Playing with the XFL’s St. Louis Battlehawks this spring, Hill had 25 tackles and two interceptions in 10 games.

Moving off the Steelers roster was cornerback Isaiah Dunn who played 22 snaps for the Steelers on Friday night and had one tackle. Additionally, the Steelers waved/injured Duke Dawson who left Friday night’s game with what appeared to be a serious knee injury after playing 15 snaps. If Dawson clears waivers, he will revert back to the Steelers and will have five days to work out an injury settlement or be placed on injured reserve.

It was reported earlier today that the Steelers signed cornerback Nevelle Clarke, but the roster move was not announced by the Steelers at this time. With the reduction of two players from the 90-man roster, there is now room for Clarke to join the Steelers even if the team has not officially made the announcement.
