Steelers add another veteran running back to their offseason roster

The Pittsburgh Steelers are finishing up the first week of Organized Team Activities (OTAs), and they are showing a willingness to continually add to their roster to help improve. After reports of the team releasing a wide receiver with an injury surfaced Thursday morning, the team has announced they are adding running back La’Mical Perine to the offseason roster.

This per the Steelers official Twitter/X account:

For more information on Perine, check out the following below:

Perine was originally drafted by the New York Jets in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of the University of Florida, the 120th overall pick, spending two seasons with the Jets.

In his career Perine has played in 19 career games, starting one. He has 94 carries for 340 yards, a 3.6-yard average, and two touchdowns. He also has 14 receptions for 96 yards, a 5.6-yard average.

He spent part of the 2022 season on the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad and played in three games for the Chiefs in 2023.

The signing might not move the needle much, but the Steelers are clearly looking for some depth at running back after this signing and another veteran running back being signed earlier this week.
