Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season is in the books. With all games complete, Steel Curtain Network’s survivor league has now claimed its second round of victims.

One big question as things got going was how many contestants were entered. With all of league one being filled with 100 contestants, league two capped out at 51 entries. Since I am entered in both leagues in order to have access, this means 150 contestants are vying for the signed Mel Blount Steelers mini helmet.

The most common choice in the contest was for the Los Angeles Chargers to defeat the Carolina Panthers. There were 14 contestants in the first league choosing LA and 11 in the second. This week, the most popular choice came through as the Chargers handled Carolina pretty easily and sent what ultimately was half of the remaining contestants through to the next round.

The second most popular pick was the Baltimore Ravens over the Las Vegas Raiders. With 10 entries in league one choosing Baltimore and another four in league two, there were a lot of people who probably thought they were fine when the Ravens took a 10-pint lead in the fourth quarter. But the Raiders scored three times in the final 10 minutes to pull off the upset and send 14 contestants packing.

When it came to the next most common correct choice, there were 10 contestants who chose the Washington Commanders to defeat the New York Giants. If the Giants would have had a healthy kicker on the roster, they may have sent 10 more contestants home.

As for the other incorrect choices they included the Philadelphia Eagles over the Atlanta Falcons (5), and the Indianapolis Colts over the Green Bay Packers (2), The Dallas Cowboys over the New Orleans Saints (2), and the Detroit Lions over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1). Additionally, 12 contestants failed to make their picks in time, a common occurrence in Week 2 every season.

In league one, there were 27 contestants eliminated with 30 going on in the contest. As for league two, nine contestants were eliminated with 20 moving through. With 50 contestants left in total, exactly one-third remain in the running.
