Pressley Harvin and James Daniels ruled out for Sunday’s game
The Pittsburgh Steelers exited Week 3 of the 2023 NFL season by stacking back-to-back wins to finish off September. Additionally, there were no players who were available in the Raiders game for the Steelers who were not able to finish the game. Even with that said, it didn’t keep the Steelers from starting the week with 10 players on the injury report.
With the Steelers having another somewhat short turnaround after not arriving home to Pittsburgh until Monday, there was the chance some players would be limited early in the week but still be available for the game. In the final injury report this week courtesy of the Steelers.com, two players have been ruled out.

The only player to miss the Steelers Week 3 game due to injury other than the players on IR, Gunner Olszewski did not practice at all last week while in the NFL concussion protocol. On Wednesday, Olszewski returned as a full participant and it was announced on Thursday he is out of the protocol. Whether or not Olszewski will earn a helmet this week remains to be seen.
The new name appearing on the list on Thursday was rookie tight end Darnell Washingotn with a knee injury. What makes it even worse is Washington did not practice at all on Thursday. Fortunately, Washington returned on Friday and is good to go on Sunday.
Appearing on the injury report every week, Larry Ogunjobi is listed again for Week 4 with a foot injury. For Wednesday’s practice, Ogunjobi once again did not practice. On Thursday, Ogunjobi progressed to be a limited participant and Friday saw him return fully with no injury designation for Week 4.
Two other players on the offense mentioned by Coach Tomlin during his press conference on Tuesday in regards to dealing with injury are guard James Daniels with a groin and wide receiver Allen Robinson with an ankle. As expected, neither player practiced on Wednesday. On Thursday, Robinson progressed to be a limited participant and progressed even further on Friday as a full participant with no injury status. As for Daniels, he did not practice on Thursday or Friday and has been ruled out for Sunday’s game. Nate Herbig is expected to get the start in place of Daniels against Houston Texas.
Another player outlined on Tuesday with dealing with an injury was punter Pressley Harvin III with a hamstring injury. On Wednesday, the Steelers added punter Brad Wing to their practice squad which is a wise move if one of the specialists is dealing with an injury. On both Wednesday and Thursday Harvin was listed as not participating. Harvin was not able to practice on Friday and has been ruled out for Sunday’s game. Earlier this week the Steelers signed Brad Wing to the practice squad and he is expected to be elevated for the game on Sunday
Two players did not practice for the Steelers on Wednesday but it was not injury related as they were given the day off. Guard Isaac Seumalo and cornerback Patrick Peterson did not practice on Wednesday but returned as full participants on Thursday and Friday as expected.
There were three other players on the injury report who were not previously known to have an injury. Safety Miles Killebrew was limited with a knee injury on Wednesday while TE/FB Connor Heyward did not practice due to an ankle injury. Additionally, tackle Chuks Okorafor missed practice due to an elbow injury. On Thursday and Friday, all three players returned as full participants and do not have an injury status for the game.
