Pittsburgh Steelers are signing ILB Kwon Alexander

The Pittsburgh Steelers might be in the midst of their 2023 training camp, but they are far from finished adding talent to their roster. In fact, it is being reported by Brooke Pryor of ESPN the team has come to terms on a deal with Kwon Alexander, pending a physical.

Those who pay attention to the Steelers throughout the offseason would remember the team brought the former New York Jets linebacker in for a visit; however, Alexander left without a contract. The reason for the lack of contract is unknown. Was it due to health issues? Was Alexander looking for a multi-year deal while the Steelers were looking for a one-year deal?

No one knows, but it looks as if the two parties figured things out with the Steelers only two practices into their training camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA.

Alexander spent last season with the Jets. He appeared in all 17 games for the team with 12 starts, playing 49 percent of the defensive snaps. Alexander finished with 69 total tackles with six tackles for loss and two quarterback hits.

A fourth-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, Alexander spent his first four seasons with the Buccaneers before signing with the 49ers in free agency. He was then traded to New Orleans in 2020 and played there through the 2021 season.

Alexander has appeared in 95 career games with 86 starts.

The signing now fills out the ILB depth chart with Cole Holcomb, Elandon Roberts and Mark Robinson. Is Omar Khan done making moves? No one knows, but he isn’t about to leave a stone unturned if he has a chance to improve the roster.
