Patrick Queen good to go for the Steelers Week 2 game on Sunday

The Pittsburgh Steelers are continuing their preparation for Week 2 of the 2024 NFL season. As the Steelers took the practice field for their final official day of preparation for the Denver Broncos, there was one player who did not participate while two were limited. In the final injury report of the week courtesy of the Steelers PR Department, one player has been ruled out while two are listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.

No. 73 G Isaac Seumalo (Pectoral) – DNP

Cam Heyward got a veteran’s day off on Thursday, something that will likely be commonplace throughout the season. On Friday, Heyward returned to practice and has no injury designation.

The most significant addition to the injury report on Thursday was Patrick Queen popping up with a groin injury which kept him out of practice on Thursday. Friday saw Queen as a full participant with no injury status.

After being limited on Wednesday with his calf injury, quarterback Russell Wilson is continuing to work his way back into the lineup as Justin Fields gets more preparation. On Thursday, Wilson was once again limited. Friday saw Wilson another limited practice and a questionable status for Sunday. For this reason, Justin Fields is fully expected to start.

On Tuesday, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin did NOT rule out guard Isaac Seumalo with his pectoral injury, leaving the door open for Seumalo’s participation. To start the week, Seumalo once again did not participate in practice. On Thursday, Seumalo was reported to be in uniform but was still listed as not participating. Friday brought another day of no practice and Seumalo has been ruled out again for Sunday.

After missing last week’s game, rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson was looking to get on the field for his first NFL action this Sunday. But just like last week, Wilson started off with a limited designation on Wednesday despite being seen running routes during practice. On Thursday, Wilson was upgraded to a full participant. Friday saw Wilson back to limited and he is once again questionable for Sunday.

One injury Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin outlined on Tuesday was Dan Moore Jr. was dealing with some swelling in his ankle and would likely not be a full participant early in the week. On Wednesday, Moore did not participate in practice where Broderick Jones moved over to left tackle and Troy Fautanu stepped in on the right side. On Thursday and Friday, Moore was back in action as a full participant at left tackle and he carries no injury status. Exactly who is starting at which tackle spot for the Steelers has not been officially reported but is highly speculated.

Another injury that was known heading into the week was cornerback Darius Rush being in the NFL’s concussion protocol. On Wednesday, Rush was a limited participant which would be a step towards potentially moving through the protocol. Thursday saw Rush once again limited as he continues to work his way back. With Friday being the key day, Rush was a full participant and out of the protocol as he had no injury status.

An unexpected player who showed up on the injury report was defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi with a knee injury. On Wednesday, Ogunjobi was a limited participant but on Thursday and Friday Ogunjobi was a full participan and he carries no injury designation
