Najee Harris, Isaac Seumalo return to practice on Thursday

The Pittsburgh Steelers have qualified for the 2023 NFL postseason and are preparing to take on the Bills in Buffalo this Sunday. With the Steelers back to a regular schedule with a Sunday game this week, the typical practice week is in full effect.

In the second injury report this week courtesy of Steelers.com, there are no new names that appear on the list with only one player who was limited while one missed practice.

Pittsburgh Steelers Participation/Injury Report, Wild Card Week

Thursday, January 11

No. 22 RB Najee Harris (Knee) – Full
No. 39 S Minkah Fitzpatrick (Knee) – Full
No. 50 LB Elandon Roberts (Pectoral) – Full
No. 73 G Isaac Seumalo (Shoulder) – Full
No. 90 LB T.J. Watt (Knee) – DNP
No. 97 DT Cam Heyward (NIR – Resting) – Limited

As was stated Tuesday by head coach Mike Tomlin in his press conference, T.J. Watt has been ruled out for the Wild Card round of the playoffs and therefore is the only person who did not participate in practice. If the Steelers can continue through the postseason, Watt would have a chance to return.

One player the Steelers are hoping to get back this week is All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. After missing his third-straight game last week as he entered with a questionable status, Fitzpatrick was a full participant at Wednesday’s practice. Thursday saw Fitzpatrick once again a full participant where he stated he will be playing on Sunday.

There were two other players who missed Wednesday’s practice due to injury in running back Najee Harris with a knee and guard Isaac Seumalo with a shoulder. Both players have been missing practice time in recent weeks, particularly early on. Backing up the statement that there should be no reason for concern, both players returned as full participants in Thursday’s practice.

As for Steelers linebacker Elandon Roberts who played through his pectoral injury on Saturday, he participated in practice on Wednesday but in a limited capacity. Thursday saw Roberts progress to a full participant. Much like last week, Roberts will likely play through whatever pain he is dealing with and be on the field Sunday for the Steelers.

The Steelers had three players who were limited in Wednesday’s practice but not due to injury and instead was due to rest. Those players include defensive back Patrick Peterson and defensive tackles Cam Heyward and Larry Ogunjobi. On Thursday, Peterson and Ogunjobi were removed from the injury report while Heyward stayed as a limited participant, but not due to injury.
