Montravius Adams starts 21-day window to return to the Steelers from IR

The Pittsburgh Steelers are continuing their preparation to face the Bengals this Sunday in Cincinnati. With the Steelers staying mostly healthy since their bye week in Week 9 and cornerback Cory Trice working his way back from the Reserve/Injured List (IR), another player who was mentioned by Mike Tomlin in his press conference on Tuesday in regards to a potential return is defensive tackle Montravius Adams. On Wednesday, the Steelers announced they have opened the 21-day window for Adams to come off IR. Adams will now be able to practice with the Steelers, but still does not count toward the 53-man roster.

Joining the Steelers off the New Orleans Saints practice squad in November of 2021, Montravius Adams has played for the Pittsburgh Steelers for three calendar years over four different seasons. In all, Adams has appeared in 42 games with 21 starts with the Steelers where he has 66 tackles, three passes defensed, a forced fumble, and 1.0 sacks. Adams’ sack came in this season where he appeared in seven games for the Steelers and played 108 defensive snaps before missing the last four games due to a knee injury.

As a reminder, if Adams doesn’t return to the 53-man roster within the 21-day window, he would be placed on season-ending IR.
