Minkah Fitzpatrick unable practice on Wednesday

The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming out of their first mini bye and are looking to once again stack victories. Heading into the second half of the 2023 season, the Steelers are hoping to get even more of their injured players back sooner or later.

In the first injury report this week courtesy of Steelers.com, there are four names that appear on the list, with two players who were limited while two missed practice.

Pittsburgh Steelers Participation/Injury Report, Week 10

Wednesday, November 8

No. 39 S Minkah Fitzpatrick (Hamstring) – DNP
No. 50 LB Elandon Roberts (Knee) – Limited
No. 57 DT Montravius Adams Sr. (Ankle) – DNP
No. 97 DL Cameron Heyward (Groin) – Limited

One player who Steelers fans are keeping their eyes on is All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrik. Missing all of their last game after leaving early in Week 8, Fitzpatrick did not practice on Wednesday. While this designation does not give a definitive answer for Fitzpatrick’s status for Sunday’s game, it is not a good start to the week.

The other player who did not practice for the Steelers on Wednesday was defensive tackle Montravius Adams whose ankle injury knocked him out of the game early last Thursday night. If Adams is unable to go, the Steelers currently have eight defensive lineman on their 53-man roster and will have other options available especially with the return of Cam Heyward in Week 9.

With inside linebacker Cole Holcomb going on the Reserve/Injured List (IR) on Monday, a concerning sign is seeing the already thin inside linebacker group have a player listed on the report with Elandon Roberts being limited in practice due to a knee injury. Whether this is a minor issue which had him miss some reps or came from an injury during practice is unknown at this time.

The final player on the injury list for the Steelers to start Week 10 is Cam Heyward with his groin injury where he just returned to the 53-man roster. Typically it would be concerning to see a player coming back from injury be limited the first practice of the week, but Heyward is also the longest-tenured member of the Pittsburgh Steelers and would often be given days off throughout the season. With Heyward, his participation during the remainder of the week will be key to his status for Sunday.
