Steel Curtain Network: A Pittsburgh Steelers podcast

Mike Tomlin and the Steelers are preparing for Nick Bosa

The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for the San Francisco 49ers to invade Acrisure Stadium this Sunday at 1pm EST, and with the start of the regular season also results in the start of a typical work week. That means it is time for the Mike Tomlin Tuesday press conference leading up to the game.

Of course, as is customary for Tomlin during these press conferences, he made it very clear how good the opponent is the Steelers will be facing, but he also touched on some other topics of note pertaining to the season opening game.

A big storyline for this game isn’t even about the Steelers, but the 49ers dynamic pass rusher Nick Bosa. Tomlin said the Steelers are preparing as if they’ll face Bosa, even though contract negotiations have seen the Defensive Player of the Year away from the team all training camp and preseason.

As for Steelers injuries, Tomlin said the team has a clean bill of health heading into Week 1. Tomlin said they feel good about player availability as he sat in front of the media on Tuesday. That’s good news for someone like Nate Herbig who has been battling a shoulder injury the past few weeks.

Other than that, Tomlin said he feels really good about where the team is heading into the week of work, citing a positive attitude in all three phases of the team.

The Steelers will hope to not just get off to a good start to the regular season, but hopefully pick up where they left off after a 3-0 preseason which had fans thirsting for more within the regular season. Be sure to stay tuned to SCN for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steelers as they press on into Week 1 of the regular season.
