What was possibly the most encouraging designation on this list was seeing Isaac Seumalo as a limited participant on Wednesday. Seumalo has missed the Steelers first three games with a pectoral injury and had yet to practice since the injury occurred ahead of Week 1. Seumalo was limited on both Thursday and Friday showing he is making progress, but is doubtful to play on Sunday which almost always means the player is out.
As for looking at things on the discouraging end, running back Jaylen Warren was unable to practice all week due to his knee injury. For this reason, Warren has been ruled out for Sunday’s game.
There were five names on the injury list on Wednesday that were not due to injury but for players getting rest. Even though he was seen to have his arm in a sling on Monday, Harris didn’t practice on Wednesday but did not have an injury designation. The other four players on the report that were not injury related were listed as limited on Wednesday and include Donte Jackson, T.J. Watt, Cameron Heyward, and Larry Ogunjobi. On Thursday, all players returned as a full participants except for Cam Heyward who was given his typical Thursday off. The two new names on Thursday’s list were safety Miles Killebrew and running back/wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson with both players having no injury designation and were merely given the day off. All seven players were full participants on Friday and carry no injury designation.
There were also two names on the injury report of players who were full participants on Wednesday. Although he returned at the end of the game after missing most of the contest, Van Jefferson is on the injury report with his eye injury but he was a full participant Wednesday. Wide receiver Roman Wilson, who has yet to make his NFL debut and was a healthy scratch in Week 3, was once again a full participant Wednesday coming off of his high ankle sprain he sustained in training camp. Thursday and Friday saw both players once again full participants and both are available for Sunday.
After being the third quarterback the last two games due to a calf injury, quarterback Russell Wilson is continuing to work his way back into the lineup as Justin Fields gets more preparation. On Wednesday, Wilson was once again limited as Coach Tomlin said he would be in his press conference. Thursday and Friday brought a limited designation once again for Wilson along with a questionable status, likely locking him in as the third quarterback again this week.
A previously unknown injury that showed up on Wednesday’s injury report was safety DeShon Elliott being limited with a quadricep issue. On Thursday and Friday, Elliott was back as a full participant and has no injury designation.
The other two players who did not participate in this week’s practices had already been ruled out for this week by head coach Mike Tomlin during his press conference on Tuesday. Both Alex Highsmith with his groin and MyCole Pruitt with a knee injury have been officially ruled out as expected.
