** in the designated 21-day window to return from Injured Reserve

One player who has already been ruled out for this week according to Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin in his press conference on Tuesday is outside linebacker Alex Highsmith. Suffering a gruesome-looking twisted ankle against the Commanders, Highsmith’s prognosis is pretty good as he is considered week to week. As expected, he did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Sunday.

One player who missed the Steelers Week 10 game due to injury is outside linebacker Nick Herbig who is dealing with a hamstring injury. On the cusp of being able to play last week, Herbig will likely push the envelope a little bit more this week with the loss of Alex Highsmith. On Wednesday, Herbig was able to practice as a full participant. Thursday and Friday brought more full practices and Herbig is good to go for Sunday.

Thursday’s injury report brought two new players who both were unable to practice. Running back Jaylen Warren popped up on the injury report with a back injury and was unable to participate while cornerback C.J. Henderson did not practice with a neck injury. Warren was able to return to practice in a limited fashion on Friday and is questionable for Sunday while Henderson missed practice again and has been ruled out.

One potentially new player to the report in Cory Trice, who had his 21-day window opened on Thursday to return from the Reserve/Injured List. In his first practice back, Trice was not even included on the initial injury report, but was added much later as a full participant. Trice was once again a full participant on Friday but is questionable for Sunday as the Steelers would need to add him back onto the 53-man roster.

There were other players who were dealing with ailments who head coach Mike Tomlin said could potentially miss time early in the week. Running back Najee Harris is dealing with an ankle injury and did not practice on Wednesday. Additionally, Donte Jackson is dealing with a hamstring injury and missed the end of last Sunday’s game as well as Wednesday’s practice. On Thursday, both players returned with Harris as a full participant and Jackson as limited. Friday saw both players as full and neither with an injury designation for Sunday.

Two other players who landed on the Steelers injury report that were not previously known were wide receiver Van Jefferson with a quadriceps and tight end MyCole Pruitt with a knee injury. Pruitt has missed time on and off with his knee injury since returning to the Steelers lineup in Week 7, but has not landed on the final injury report each week. On Wednesday, Pruitt and Jefferson were not able to practice. On Thursday, Jefferson was a limited participant while Pruitt still did not practice but had the designation of “NIR- Resting Vet” added to his status. Jefferson returned to practice as a full participant on Friday and has no injury status for Sunday, but Pruitt did not practice again on Friday and is doubtful for Sunday’s game.

Two other players on Wednesday’s injury report were both given the day off due to rest. Both defensive tackle Cam Heyward and guard Isaac Seumalo were given the day off on Wednesday, something that has been quite common throughout this season. Seumalo returned as a full participant on Thursday while Heyward was given another day of rest. Both players were back on Friday and are good to go for Sunday.
