Jaylen Warren active for the Steelers in Week 11 vs. the Ravens
The Pittsburgh Steelers are now less than 90 minutes away from their kickoff for Week 11 of the 2024 NFL season. Coming off a big road win in Washington, the Steelers are home underdogs in their first AFC North game of the season which happens to be against the Baltimore Ravens.
As is always the case, 90 minutes before kickoff is when teams must announce their inactive list for the upcoming game. With 48 players active for each team, the number of players on the inactive list depends on if a team makes any practice squad elevations. With the Steelers not elevating any players from the practice squad, their inactive list is five players. As for the Ravens, they have six players due to one practice squad elevation.
Keep in mind that last season implemented a modified return of the “third quarterback rule.” Every NFL team who has a third quarterback on their 53-man roster may include him on their inactive list, but he can be designated as a third quarterback and is therefore in uniform in case of injury to the two players ahead of him on the depth chart. But if one of the players is deemed healthy enough to return, the third quarterback goes back to their role on the sideline.
Here are the five players inactive for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 11 against the Ravens according to Steelers.com.
Steelers Inactives
No. 4 QB Kyle Allen (3rd QB)
No. 35 RB Jonathan Ward
No. 56 LB Alex Highsmith
No. 64 G Max Scharpling
No. 81 TE MyCole Pruitt
This week, two players had already been ruled out for the Steelers coming into the game. Those players were linebacker Alex Highsmith and cornerback C.J. Henderson. With Henderson going on the Reserve/Injured List (IR) on Saturday, Highsmith was the only guaranteed player to miss the game due to injury. This will be Highsmith’s third game of the season he will miss with both other games being Steelers losses.
Another player who was expected to miss the game due to injury was tight end MyCole Pruitt who was listed as doubtful for the game. With no change to his injury status on Saturday, it’s no surprise to see Pruitt inactive for the game. This will be his fourth game of the season missed as Pruitt was also out Week 3 through Week 5.
The biggest question when it came to the Steelers inactive list was the status of running back Jaylen Warren who popped up on the Steelers injury report on Thursday with a back injury. The Steelers added running back Jonathan Ward back to the 53-man roster on Saturday in case Warren could not go. Already missing two games this season, Warren is active for the Steelers while Ward lands on the inactive list.
Two spots on the inactive list that seemed to be locked in unless there is a problem are a quarterback and on the offensive line. Kyle Allen is once again the third quarterback position and can only enter the game if both other quarterbacks are out due to injury. Now that the Steelers offensive line is back to having all players available who are not on IR, Max Sharpling finds his usual spot on the inactive list for the Steelers. Signing with the Steelers off the Washington Commanders practice squad, Scharping has 33 starts in 79 games over the last five seasons with both the Houston Texans and Cincinnati Bengals.
As for the Ravens inactive list, it can be seen below.
