How Mason Rudolph delivered for the Steelers in Week 16

The Pittsburgh Steelers scored north of 30 points for the first time in the 2023 season vs. the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 16. Yes, it’s been that kind of season for the Steelers on offense, but what was the difference? Was it simply the insertion of Mason Rudolph as the team’s starting quarterback over still-injured Kenny Pickett?

Some might say that isn’t the case, and it’s more about the Bengals’ defense being sub-par, and while that may be true there were things which Rudolph did in the game last Saturday which hadn’t been done by any quarterback, not just Pickett, the entire season.

At this point, many reading this are probably curious at what exactly was the difference between Rudolph and the other quarterbacks who have started games for the Steelers this season? Some of the the things Rudolph did were great pre-snap recognition, staying in the pocket to let plays develop, and delivering timely throws to the talented skill position players.

It’s easy for me to write this, but there are times when I defer to people who have forgotten more about the game of football than I’ll ever know. Here at SCN that would be our own Coach. So, let KT Smith dive into how Rudolph delivered for the Steelers vs. the Bengals in Week 16.

This is the latest topic of KT Smith’s Call Sheet Breakdowns, and he goes through the X’s and O’s of how Mason Rudolph delivered in a big way vs. the Bengals. Check it out in the player below, or by clicking HERE:
