Could The Best Match-Up Of The Game Be Between… The Kickers?

Get ready for an exciting Sunday Night Football showdown as two of the NFL’s best kickers take center stage! Pittsburgh Steelers’ Chris Boswell and Dallas Cowboys’ Brandon Aubrey, both recognized as Special Teams Players of the Month for their conferences, could play a pivotal role in this matchup.

Chris Boswell has been nearly flawless this season, connecting on 11 of 12 field goals for an impressive 91.7% success rate. He’s perfect on all his kicks under 50 yards and has also shined from long distance, making 5 of 6 attempts from 50+ yards, with his only miss coming on a 62-yarder at Acrisure Stadium. In week one he became the first player in Steelers history to make three field goals of 50 yards or more in a single game. Boswell is also the most accurate kicker in NFL history for kicks over 50 yards. His longest kick this season is a powerful 57 yards, proving he has the leg to handle almost any distance.

On the Cowboys’ side, Brandon Aubrey is matching Boswell’s performance, also going perfect on kicks under 50 yards. He’s made 12 of 13 field goals, boasting an even better 92.3% success rate. He’s nailed 6 of 7 attempts from beyond 50 yards, with his only miss being a 51-yarder at MetLife Stadium. Aubrey’s longest kick? An impressive 65 yards, showing there’s almost no limit to his range.

With both kickers demonstrating incredible power and accuracy this season, it wouldn’t be surprising if one of them ends up being the game-changer. If this game comes down to a game-winning field goal, both teams will feel confident in their kicker’s ability to deliver. I hope the Steelers can take care of business and avoid that scenario, but if it does come to it, let’s hope we’re celebrating on the winning side!
