Cory Trice Jr. activated to the Steelers 53-man roster

The Pittsburgh Steelers are continuing their preparation to face the Cleveland Browns this Sunday at Acrisure Stadium. On Thursday, the Steelers have announced that they have moved Cory Trice off the Reserve/Injured List (IR) to the 53-man roster at the end of his 21-day practice window.

Missing all of the 2023 season after being a seventh-round draft pick out of Purdue, Cory Trice came on strong for the Steelers in training camp. Through the first two weeks of the 2024 season, Trice had 27 defensive snaps and 17 special team snaps where he had two tackles and an interception. In Week 3, Trice only saw one defensive snap and two special teams snaps before exiting the game with a hamstring injury. Trice was eligible to return for the Steelers as soon as Week 8, but was not cleared to resume practice until November 14.

The Steelers could have moved Trice to the 53-man roster for any of the previous three games, but if they were not going to have him active on game day there was no need to do so until today. Whether or not Trice will get a helmet this week with the rest of the Steelers secondary being fully healthy is an entirely different question.

To make room on the 53-man roster, the Steelers released running back Jonathan Ward on Wednesday.
