Chris Boswell named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 11

The Pittsburgh Steelers are one of the lucky ones, and when I say that I’m referring to the fact they have one of the best placekickers in the NFL. While some NFL franchises go through kickers like T.J. Watt goes through pass blockers, the Steelers have one of the best, and most accurate, kickers not just in the AFC, but the NFL.

After being named the AFC Player of the Month for September and October, the NFL has given Boswell another weekly award for his six field goal performance vs. the Ravens in Week 11.

This was the second time this season Boswell has earned a weekly award from the NFL, the other being was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in the Steelers Week 1 18-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

In that game Boswell accounted for all 18 points the Steelers scored, going six-for-six on field goals. Boswell hit three field goals of more than 50 yards, connecting from 57, 51 and 56 yards.

Boswell accounted for all the scoring in the Steelers 18-16 win over the Baltimore Ravens, hitting on six field goals, including three from 50 plus yards. Boswell connected from 32, 52, 32, 57, 27 and 50 yards to secure the win for the Steelers.

Boswell became the first Steelers kicker to hit three field goals of 50 plus yards when he did so against the Falcons, and now is the only player to have done it twice as well.

The Steelers are fortunate to have a weapon like Boswell on their roster, and after the month of September no one who watched can’t say he isn’t a weapon. Be sure to stay tuned to SCN for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steelers as they prepare for the Cleveland Browns on Thursday Night Football in Week 12.
