Cam Heyward activated off Injured Reserve prior to Week 9

The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for the Tennessee Titans in Week 9, and in this game they’ll need all the help they can get. While there were no moves made at the NFL’s trade deadline, the team will get a boost on their active roster.

That boost will come in the form of Cam Heyward’s return. Heyward, who landed on Injured Reserve (IR) has been activated to the 53-man roster. This per the Steelers official Twitter/X account:

The All-Pro defensive lineman will help boost the team’s sagging run defense, but will also help elevate the play of fellow defenders like T.J. Watt. With Heyward’s return the defense won’t be able to go all-out to stop Watt, not with Heyward in the lineup.

Heyward has missed the majority of the season after injuring his groin in Week 1. The injury required surgery, and it is great to see Heyward back on the field when the team needs him the most.

Heyward returning isn’t followed by a corresponding move as the team only had 52 players on their active roster. Heyward rounds out the 53-man roster. Be sure to stay tuned to SCN for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steelers as they prepare for the Titans.
