The Pittsburgh Steelers are now less than 90 minutes away from kickoff in Week 3 of the 2023 NFL season. Traveling to face the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday Night Football, the Steelers have the chance to push their record above .500 early in the season.

As is always the case, 90 minutes before kickoff is when teams must announce their inactive list for the upcoming game. With 48 players active for each team, the number of players on the inactive list depends on if a team makes any practice squad elevations. With the Steelers elevating one player on Saturday, their inactive list is six players as is the Raiders.

New to the 2023 season is a modified return of the “third quarterback rule.” Every NFL team who has a third quarterback on their 53-man roster will include him on their inactive list, but he is designated as a third quarterback and is therefore in uniform in case of injury to the two players ahead of him on the depth chart. But if one of the players is deemed healthy enough to return, the third quarterback goes back to their role on the sideline.

Here are the six players inactive for the Pittsburgh Steelers in their Week 3 matchup against the Raiders according to Steelers.com.

Mason Rudolph is on the list as the Steelers third quarterback and will be in uniform which is technically an upgrade from last season. Joining Rudolph on the inactive list again this week is the Steelers ninth offensive lineman Dylan Cook.

One player who was ruled on on Friday was wide receiver Gunner Olszewski who did not practice all week due to being in the NFL’s concussion protocol. With Olszewski out, it was assumed wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick would dress for the first time this season. Instead, the Steelers chose to give cornerback Desmond King a helmet for the first time this season and only dress four wide receivers.

With the Steelers promoting running back Qadree Ollison from the practice squad, Goodwin Igwebuike, who was signed this week of the Atlanta Falcon’s practice squad, is inactive.

The other player inactive for the Steelers is defensive lineman Breiden Fehoko. Singed off the practice squad earlier this week, Fehoko is the odd man out in a very crowded defensive line room.
