Bold and Bizarre Predictions for Steelers vs. Bills, AFC Wild Card Game
Riding their longest winning streak of the season, your Pittsburgh Steelers are in frigid Buffalo, and striving to win their first playoff game in seven years on the 95th birth anniversary of Martin Luther King. Of course, with T.J. Watt out, Mason Rudolph making his first playoff start and the insane weather conditions, there comes a whole lotta predictions.
With that being said, SCN’s resident Nostradumbass is back to do the deed again this week as the Steelers look to shock and advance. The following are predictions, some basic, some bold and some absolutely bizarre.
- Antonio Brown, having snuck into Highmark Stadium as a fan shoveling snow for $20, gathers at the 50 during warmups wearing a half Bills, half Steelers jersey in an attempt to get added to one of the two rosters of today’s combatants. He’s escorted out of the stadium by police but rescued and pardoned by Kathy Hochul. The New York Governor, all set to offer AB a position on her cabinet for his moxie but sends him to jail after finding out about that Arena Football scandal in Albany.
- Despite the nasty weather, Mason Rudolph finishes the game with a 200-yard effort and a touchdown pass on the day to Pat Freiermuth.
- Diontae Johnson reels in 4 catches and George Pickens 3 but it’s the RBs, Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren, that lead the team in receptions.
- Chris Boswell is a perfect 3-for-3 on the day on extra-point attempts but misses a long field goal in the extreme wind of Orchard Park.
- Cam Heyward, Nick Herbig and Alex Highsmith all pick up sacks.
- The “Men in the Middle”, Myles Jack and Elandon Roberts, combine for 22 tackles in the arctic conditions.
- Going back home, Levi Wallace pulls in a Josh Allen pass for a playoff pick.
- Harris finds the end zone to go with his third 100+ effort in a row.
- Warren gets in as well, and almost gets in a second time to ice the game late in the fourth but fumbles on the one. The ball is picked up by Buffalo’s Jordan Poyer who looks to be off to the races until legendary Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger appears out of nowhere to ankle tackle the DB just like he did to Nick Harper on this day in 2006. The play stands due to the blinding snow shielding the fact that it was Big Ben and not Rudolph making the play.
- The Steelers defense surrenders a 200+ rushing game to the Bills, but Boswell’s third FG secures the 21-18 win (Sound familiar? See Jan 15, 2006) and a trip to Baltimore.
- The author takes heat for changing his pick that was documented on the Steelers Preview (check it out wherever you download your favorite podcasts) from a loss to a win. But he’s a big boy with thick skin.
Will any of this actually happen? I’ll bet at least one or two. Heck, maybe every one of them. Be sure to post your predictions — basic or bizarre — below.
