Week 11 proved that the 2024 Pittsburgh Steelers have what it takes to win tight, close games against a quality opponent. The Steelers ‘cut their eyelids off’, to use a Tomlin-ism, and didn’t blink when the game against the Ravens got tense in the 4th Quarter. The team maintained its composure and showed that they can compete with anyone in the AFC.
With the victory, the Steelers move to 8-2 on the season, while the 2nd place Ravens dropped to 7-4, with their bye week still to come. This makes the Steelers/Browns game December 8th is that much more important. It’s the Ravens bye week that week, and the victory from this past week will mean that much more if the Steelers take advantage of that Ravens bye week by winning.
But, all of this is for naught if the Steelers overlook the Browns on a short week THIS week in Cleveland. The Steelers need to continue to take care of business to show that this season’s success is not a fluke. How can we take advantage of the Steelers/Browns game for our gain? First let’s take a look back at the week that was, before we get to the week that is!
Review
Corey – Offense was clearly at a premium versus the Ravens, as Chris Boswell continues to cement his name as one of, if not THE, greatest kicker in Steelers history, booting 6 Field Goals in the victory. As such, the OVER was lost, and so was the George Pickens TD Scorer pick. That +3.5 Pts SPREAD that Jeff talked about all week definitely hit.
- Steelers Points SPREAD: +3.5 (-118) – HIT
- OVER Total Points: 48.5 (-110) – MISS
- Anytime TD Scorer: George Pickens (+130) – MISS
Total Parlay Odds: +495
Winning Bet of $10 = $59.50
Jeff – Last week my parlay missed for the Steelers game vs. the Ravens, but what else is new? There was a time when I felt like as the season progressed I was getting better at picking my spots, but that has not been the case. My parlay struggles continue…
Here was my parlay from last week:
3 Leg Parlay
- Russell Wilson Passing TDs: 2+ (+110) MISS
- George Pickens Receptions: 4.5+ (-115) HIT
- PIT Total Points: 23.5+ (+110) MISS
- Total Odds: +380
Winning Bet of $10 = $48
Another parlay ruined, this one by the Pittsburgh Steelers offense not doing what we thought they would vs. the Ravens defense. I had a good feeling the Steelers would win the game, but I thought they’d move the ball better on offense than they did. Especially in the pass game and the Ravens’ last placed pass defense. Nonetheless, another loss, but maybe we’ll get lucky this week.
Dave – Yeah, this was not good.
- PIT Total Points: 26.5 (+180) MISS
- George Pickens Receiving Yards: 80+ (+135) HIT
- Russell Wilson Passing Touchdowns: 2+ (+110) MISS
I thought this was going to be a high-scoring game. Boy, was I wrong. I thought it would buck the trend of Steelers-Ravens and I would take advantage. Oh well, on to Thursday night.
This Week’s Picks
Corey – The weather forecast is calling for nasty, AFC North football weather. This means that the game is going to look kinda similar to last week against the Ravens. You won’t mistake Jameis Winston for Lamar Jackson though, and you also probably won’t see Winston throw for 40 times a game as he has the last couple of games. The CLE offense has been averaging around 14Pts/Gm outside of their victory over the Ravens a couple weeks ago, and the Steelers defense won’t make running lanes easy for Chubb and Co. I look for the defense to feast this game, and Chris Boswell to continue his tremendous season as long as the Steelers Offensive Red Zone woes continue.
- Najee Harris Anytime TD Scorer (+105)
- Jaylen Warren 25+ Receiving Yards (+180)
- PIT Steelers RACE TO 20 PTS (+115)
Total Parlay Odds: +800
Winning Bet of $10 = $90.00
Jeff – This week’s parlay…which I again went conservative with, feels like a bunch of safe plays. I said the same thing last week, and we now how that played out. That’s fine with me, sometimes you just need to get a winner to get you off the losing streak.
3 Leg Parlay
- Jaylen Warren 40+ Rush Yards (+100)
- Najee Harris 60+ Rush Yards (-170)
- T.J. Watt Total Tackles + Assists OVER 3.5 (-110)
Total Odds: +525
$10 bet = $62.50
Dave – Last week I banked on a high-scoring game and got burned. This week, I’m over-correcting based on the opponent and the projected weather forecast. I think the Steelers will run the ball well, particularly with Najee Harris, and the Browns will struggle to score points. Full disclaimer, I would NOT bet on this game because of the “anything can happen” factor or Thursday Night Football, so my confidence in this bet is not high. But since I need to have something, this is what I think is most likely to happen.
- CLE Total Points: UNDER 14.5 (+120)
- Total PIT+CLE Touchdowns: UNDER 3.5 (+105)
- Najee Harris Rushing yards: 80+ (+135)
Total Odds: +575
Winning Bet of $10 = $67.50
