The Pittsburgh Steelers are moving along through the 2024 NFL season and are heading back out on the road in Week 6 to face the Raiders in Las Vegas. As the Steelers took the practice field for their second official day of preparation for the Raiders, there were five players who did not participate while five were limited. In the second injury report of the week courtesy of the Steelers PR Department, one new name appears on the list.

In his press conference on Tuesday, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin ruled out four players for this week. Missing his third game of the season is linebacker Alex Highsmith with a groin injury, while running back Cordarrelle Patterson is set to miss his second game with an ankle injury. The other two players who were ruled out on Tuesday were injuries in-game on Sunday in Nick Herbig with a hamstring and DeMarvin Leal with a neck injury. As expected, none of these players practiced on Wednesday. On Thursday, all these players did not practice again with the exception of Alex Highsmith who saw some limited action. It is not expected to see Highsmith available on Sunday, but getting on the field for practice this week bodes well for Week 7.

In addition to the four players who have been ruled out, Coach Tomlin also listed three players as doubtful for this Sunday’s game. Running back Jaylen Warren and tight end MyCole Pruitt have missed multiple games with their respective knee injuries and are likely to miss Week 6. Injured in pregame warm-ups on Sunday, safety Damontae Kazee is the other doubtful player with his ankle injury. On Wednesday, it was surprising to see both Warren and Pruitt participate in a limited fashion. As for Kazee, he did not participate. Thursday saw all three with the same designation as Wednesday as Warren and Pruitt were limited while Kazee did not practice.

After missing the first four games of the season, guard Isaac Seumalo returned to the Steelers offensive line that has been decimated by injuries. With Coach Tomlin mentioning that Seumalo may be slow-played this week in order to protect him as he returns, missing practice time does not mean he is likely to miss the game. On Wednesday, Seumalo did not participate but was designated as due to rest. Thursday saw Seumalo return as a full participant.

Speaking of players not participating because the coaches were giving them a day off, there were several others on Wednesday. Najee Harris, Cameron Heyward, T.J. Watt, and Larry Ogunjobi had the day off due to rest. Minkah Fitzpatrick was listed on the report as limited due to giving him rest. Thursday saw Watt, Harris, and Fitzpatrick players return to practice as full participants while Ogunjobi was limited. Cam Heyward had another day off on Thursday.

After being the third quarterback the first four games due to a calf injury, quarterback Russell Wilson is continuing to work his way back into the lineup as Justin Fields gets more preparation. But this week, Coach Tomlin said Wilson is expected to be a full participant on Wednesday and will take snaps with the second team offense. Just as coach Tomlin said, Wilson was a full participant on Wednesday with his response to the extra work being the key moving forward. Thursday saw Wilson once again full which is a good sign moving forward.

The one new injury on Thursday was Pat Freiermuth being limited with a calf injury. It is unclear at this time if this was an injury which occurred during practice.
