AFC North Recap: Somehow, the Steelers are atop the division after Week 5
Week 5 is officially in the rear view mirror for all four teams who call the AFC North home, and somehow the Pittsburgh Steelers are leading the division after the week that was. There was bad offense, questionable coaching decisions, and only one team left the week with a losing mark on the ledger.
Time to take stock of what happened in the AFC North, and what is coming up…
Pittsburgh Steelers – 17
Baltimore Ravens – 10
For a fan who didn’t watch the game, they might see the 17-10 final score and think it was a very conventional game. Couple touchdowns and some field goals, right? Wrong. This game was a mixed bag of nothingness for most of the contest, filled with questionable coaching decisions, dropped passes, and horrible play all around. However, when it mattered most, the Steelers made a big play to turn the tide in their favor. It was as ugly as it gets, but you won’t hear the Steelers complaining about now being in first place in the division heading into a much-needed bye week.
Cincinnati Bengals – 34
Arizona Cardinals – 20
The Bengals needed to get right, and they did just that in Week 5 when they went on the road to the desert and took care of business against the Cardinals. It wasn’t just Joe Burrow’s best game of the season, by far, but it was the resurgence of Ja’Marr Chase which has fans excited. Chase had three touchdowns and 190 yards receiving, validating how he is “always f–king open”, as he stated after last week’s loss to the Tennessee Titans. Are the Bengals back? They have a tough stretch of games ahead, but it looks like they are at least headed in the right direction.
