AFC North Recap: It’s a race to the finish for the Steelers and Ravens
The AFC North was widely considered the toughest division in the NFL heading into the regular season, but there certainly have been some bumps in the road where the division played poorly. Every AFC North team was in action in Week 16, but the AFC North had games at different times. When all was said and done, the Steelers lost to the Ravens and the Browns lost to the Bengals as all four division teams played one another in Week 16.
Time to take a look at how the AFC North played out in Week 16, the latest standings and the upcoming schedule in Week 17.
Baltimore Ravens – 34
Pittsburgh Steelers – 17
When the dust settles on this game, it is hard to believe there were points where the Steelers were not just within striking distance, but had plenty of opportunities to come away with another traditional Steelers win. Three fumbles, none recovered by the Steelers. The drive where Russell Wilson fumbled was a thing of beauty for the Pittsburgh offense, something we haven’t seen too much of in recent memory. Even after the Minkah Fitzpatrick interception, the Steelers were only trailing by one score. Then it all unraveled quickly. The Steelers lost the game, and will certainly be asking themselves what could have been, but now it turns into a race to the finish between these two rivals. The Steelers have the first leg of the race Wednesday, can they put the pressure on the Ravens in the second part on Christmas day?
Cincinnati Bengals – 24
Cleveland Browns – 6
Dorian Thompson-Robinson started the game for the Browns as Kevin Stefanski continues to wonder if his 2025 quarterback is on the current roster or not. The man they call “DTR” looked a lot like Jameis Winston when it comes to his knack for throwing the ball to the opposition. The Browns didn’t score a passing touchdown, and DTR threw two costly interceptions. The final score may look bad, but this was a 17-6 game heading into the 4th quarter. The Bengals continue to hang around in the playoff hunt with the biggest game of the year on deck vs. the Denver Broncos in Week 17. The Bengals are now 7-8, and the cynic in me is fine with the Bengals winning some games, but failing to make the playoffs, to hurt their 2025 NFL Draft order.
