A trio of Steelers legends now watch their sons all join Notre Dame
The Pittsburgh Steelers are a unique NFL franchise. Unique not just in the success they’ve had throughout their time as a team, but unique in the way they almost have a college feel about them. Alumni come back to visit the current team at their practices, and welcome the newest crop of Steelers to the black-and-gold.
The Steelers alumni being linked together took another step this week when three former Steelers watched their sons commit to the University of Notre Dame to play football for the Fighting Irish. The three players were former wide receiver Plaxico Burress, cornerback Ike Taylor and Hall of Fame running back Jerome Bettis. The three watched their sons, Elijah, Ivan and Jerome Jr., all commit to be ‘golden domers’ this fall.

In today’s college football landscape, plenty can change as the team’s change players yearly with the transfer portal. So, there is no guarantee Burress, Taylor and Bettis stay together at Notre Dame for the entirety of their college careers. Nonetheless, I think I can speak for all Steelers fans who are above the age of 35 when I say seeing these players’ kids now in college makes me feel really damn old. Next will be Troy Polamalu’s son going to USC and playing for the Trojans.
Be sure to stay tuned to SCN for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steelers as they prepare for the start of training camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA in July.
