Sunday’s report is an estimation.

The Steelers had five players who missed their Week 16 game due to injury, but head coach Mike Tomlin said in his press conference they all have a real chance to play on Wednesday. Those players include quarterback Justin Fields, wide receiver George Pickens, safety DeShon Elliott, cornerback Donte Jackson, and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi. In the first projected injury report, Justin Fields was projected to not practice while the other four players were all listed as limited.

The Steelers also had two players who were not able to complete the game on Saturday due to injury. Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. left with a knee injury while wide receiver Ben Skowronek left with a hip injury. In the first injury report, it is projected that neither player would have been a participant.

The only other player on the list due to injury is linebacker Tyler Matakevich who is listed as not practicing on Sunday due to a knee injury.

As is typically the case this late in the season, there were a number of players who would not have practiced Sunday simply due to getting rest. Those players include wide receiver Mike Williams, linebacker Elandon Roberts, guard Isaac Seumalo, linebacker T.J. Watt, and  defensive tackle Cam Heyward.

As is often the case when it comes to the injury report, it is the progression throughout the week that will give an indication to a player’s availability. For this reason, make sure you are checking back at Steel Curtain Network for Monday’s and Tuesday’s injury report as well as continued coverage as the Steelers prepare for Wednesday’s game against the Chiefs.
