5 players mentioned by Mike Tomlin following Friday’s training camp practice
The Pittsburgh Steelers took to the practice field at St. Vincent College for their second training camp practice on Friday. Following practice, head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media about their second day on the field. Even though he wasn’t asked many questions at all by those in attendance, I was able to still pull off a players mentioned article. Remember these are players where a specific question was asked during the Q&A period with the exception of Coach Tomlin offering up an injury update in his opening statement.
DeMarvin Leal, Diontae Johnson, & Connor Heyward
During his opening remarks, Coach Tomlin gave an update on players who were not able to finish practice on Friday. The players included DeMarvin Leal, Diontae Johnson, and Connor Heyward.
“We had a couple of guys that weren’t able to finish because of heat-related things and it’s probably routine this time of year. Leal (DeMarvin) missed a block of time. I think he was able to come back, Diontae (Johnson), Conner (Heyward). So, we’ll just keep an eye on those guys and hopefully we get another hot day out here tomorrow.”
In the first question for Coach Tomlin, he was asked to confirm that Diontae Johnson did not have an injury or if it was strictly heat related.
“Heat related like I said.”
George Pickens & Joey Porter Jr.
Even though the pads have not come on yet, it doesn’t mean that players can’t have their emotions get the best of them on the field. Coach Tomlin was asked about a play where George Pickens apparently gave Joey Porter a little shove and Coach Tomlin had some words after the situation.
“I’ll leave that between us man. Just part of team development man. Everything is not for public consumption.”
