4 players mentioned by Mike Tomlin following Wednesday’s practice

The Pittsburgh Steelers took to the practice field again at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Wednesday. Following practice, even though training camp is over, head coach Mike Tomlin briefly addressed the media about their day on the field. Since he was asked about a few players, I am going to continue the players mentioned article. Remember these are players where a specific question was asked during the Q&A period.

Russell Wilson

Coach Tomlin was asked about his plans for Russell Wilson in his final preseason game after Wilson stated to the media earlier the day he was playing.

“Again, I’m not there yet. We generally do that in the 11th hour in the preseason. There’s no need to put the cart before the horse. These individual days themselves are so important. What happens out here in terms of being our guy, in terms of how we divvy up reps, so we’re not there yet.”

In a follow-up question, Coach Tomlin was asked if he has plans for who will be starting.

“I don’t have any decisions made as of right now for Saturday.”

Jaylen Warren

Coach Tomlin was asked about the status of running back Jaylen Warren and his hamstring injury after saying he shouldn’t be out long term.

“It means he’s not long-term.”

Cordarrelle Patterson

Coach Tomlin was asked if he believes Cordarrelle Patterson could handle a heavy workload in the backfield if needed.

“I would imagine ‘C.P.’ is not resistant to any work. He is a competitor.”

Roman Wilson

Coach Tom was asked about the timetable for the return of rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson after Wilson said to the media he was getting close to a return.

“Why are you guys talking to Roman?”
