4 players mentioned by Mike Tomlin following Thursday’s training camp practice

The Pittsburgh Steelers took to the practice field at St. Vincent College for training camp on Thursday. Following practice, head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media about their first day on the field. Since he was asked about a number of players, I am excited to bring back the players mentioned article to Steel Curtain Network for the 2024 season! Remember these are players where a specific question was asked during the Q&A period.

Russell Wilson

Coach Tomlin was asked about his comments on creating short term discomfort for quarterback Russell Wilson and how much Wilson wanted to practice on Thursday.

“He wanted to and he was probably capable, but I’m getting to know him, and I just chose to create a little misery for him in the offensive unit.”

Justin Fields

Coach Tomlin was asked about what he saw from quarterback Justin Fields in practice on Thursday.

“He was excited about the opportunity to lead that first group out of the huddle and take charge today. We’re not painting with a broad brush just yet or making too many judgments. It was a good afternoon.”

Cordarrelle Patterson & Dean Lowry

Coach Tomlin was asked about any injury updates from practice. During his response, he mentioned Cordarrelle Patterson and Dean Lowry who are currently on various injury lists keeping them out of practice.

“Nothing else that we hadn’t spoken of yesterday. [Cordarrelle] Patterson and [Dean] Lowry obviously dealing with their soft tissue injuries. Other than that, we’ll see what this evening tells us from an availability standpoint in terms of things that may have happened in practice.”
