The Steelers have two players at the safety position who have missed the last two games in Minkah Fitzpatrick and Trenton Thompson. While Thompson return to practice early last week, he was unable to go on Sunday while Fitzpatrick did not take the practice field. On Tuesday, Thompson was listed as a limited participant while Fitzpatrick was estimated to have not been able to practice. Wednesday saw Fitzpatrick return to the field in a limited fashion along with Thompson. Thursday brought both players once again being limited and both are questionable for Saturday’s game.
Another key player who missed Sunday’s game due to injury was inside linebacker Elandon Roberts. Suffering a pectoral injury, Roberts said last week not to rule him out for returning against the Ravens. To start the week, Roberts was estimated to have not been able to participate. On Wednesday, Roberts returned to practice as a limited participant and carried the same status on Thursday. Even though he has made the statement that he is playing, Roberts is listed as questionable.
Leaving the game briefly on Sunday, T.J. Watt is a player who was likely to land on the injury report this week but is not expected to miss Saturday’s game. On Tuesday, Watt was not even one of the players listed on the estimated report. Watt was added to the injury report on Wednesday as a limited participant but it was designated as being not injury related. Defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi was the other new player added on Wednesday in the same situation as Watt where he was limited but not due to injury. On Thursday Ogunjobi was removed from the injury report while Watt was once again limited but not due to injury.
One player whose name appears in the list but was a full participant is quarterback Kenny Pickett. Coming back from a high ankle sprain, Pickett is slated to be the backup in Baltimore on Saturday. Wednesday saw Pickett once again as a full participant, but this time for an actual practice. Pickett was full again on Thursday and has no injury status for Saturday.
The other three players who were listed as limited on Tuesday are names that have been on the injury report recently. Running back Najee Harris (knee), guard Isaac Seumalo (shoulder), and defensive tackle Cam Heyward (groin) were all limited on Tuesday. On Wednesday, these players split into three different directions. Cam Heward was once again limited on Wednesday while Isaac Seumalo was a full participant. Unfortunately, Najee Harris was the one player on the Steelers who did not practice on Wednesday. Thursday saw all three players each with a different participation level yet again, but not the same for each player. Heyward was once again limited as Najee Harris returned as a full participant while Seumalo sat out. Most importantly, none of these three players have an injury status for the game.
There was one player who was added to the report on Thursday as Myles Jack missed practice for a personal reason. It’s surprising to see Jack listed because he is on the practice squad and not actually on the Steelers 53-man roster.
