3 Pittsburgh Steelers named to the AFC Pro Bowl roster

The NFL has changed the Pro Bowl a lot since the days of it being a glorified touch football game. No longer are players expected to participate and pretend it is a regular football game. Instead of those games, players who earn Pro Bowl honors go and play in more “fun” events like flag football, dodgeball, and several other events which showcase the strength and athleticism these athletes possess.

Wednesday evening the NFL released the initial roster of Pro Bowlers, and there were three players from the Pittsburgh Steelers who earned such an honor. They were:

  • OLB T.J. Watt
  • S Minkah Fitzpatrick
  • S/ST Miles Killebrew

This from the Steelers official Twitter/X account:

Watt (6) and Fitzpatrick (4) have become mainstays at the event, but this will be Killebrew’s first time being named to the Pro Bowl. If there was anyone who could be viewed as a “snub” for the Steelers, it would likely be Chris Boswell. Boswell has been rock solid for the team, and has only two missed field goals on the season. However, Boswell could always end up going, just as an alternate for someone who is injured, chooses not to go, or is on a team preparing for the Super Bowl.

Again, the traditional Pro Bowl game has been replaced by activities, which will culminate with an AFC vs. NFC Flag Game at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida on Sunday, February 4. In the meantime, be sure to stay tuned to SCN for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steelers as they prepare for the Baltimore Ravens in Week 18.
